The Skoda Superb is already one of the best family cars you can buy thanks to its Fort Knox-like build quality, limo-rivalling rear seat legroom and huge boot – particularly in the estate model. Rather than making huge changes to a proven formula, you can expect Skoda to give the car minor styling revisions, larger infotainment screens and, for the first time, to offer it with petrol-electric hybrid power

The 2019 Skoda Superb will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March 2019 and is expected to cost from around £21,000 – making it £1,000 cheaper than Volkswagen Passat. A car that has less space, but marginally more badge kudos.

The 2019 Skoda Superb won’t be given the gawkish, twin-headlight design that has been inflicted on the new Octavia. If the latest pictures are anything to go by, you’ll struggle to spot the new car from the old model. That said, you can expect the car to get revised head and tail lights and a redesigned bumper for a subtle freshen-up. That’ll be completed with the addition of new paint shades and new-look alloy wheels.

The biggest changes you’ll see on the inside will come in the form of a 12.3-inch digital instrument binnacle that’s likely to be offered in more versions of the Superb than before. The main central infotainment screen, meanwhile, will offer wireless connection to Apple Carplay and Android Auto – meaning you don’t need to spoil the look of the smart interior with loose cables.

The biggest change, however, is likely to be mechanical – or should that be electric-mechanical – because the Superb will be offered as a petrol-electric hybrid for the first time. Skoda hasn’t confirmed what that will entail, but logic dictates that it’ll get the same powertrain as fitted to the Volkswagen Passat GTE plug-in hybrid, which shares the Skoda’s underpinnings.

The combination of a 1.4-litre petrol engine and an electric motor produces 218hp, which should get the Skoda from 0-62mph in about seven seconds. That’s not far off hot-hatch performance, only in the Skoda you’ll also have an electric-only range of 31 miles – the electric motor alone giving the Superb plenty of performance in town – and making it free from paying London’s congestion charge. You can also expect emissions improvement across the engines carried over from the current car.

That’s impressive is any car and even more so in the Superb that has truly limo levels of passenger space and a massive boot in both hatchback and estate models.

The best value in Skoda Superb 2019 Interior is a base model with manual gearbox, but it’s still decently priced after adding fancy audio, leather, and a moonroof.
